California Oil Pays Large Uintah County Tax Bill
California Oil Company officials presented a check for 508 351.00 to Uintah County Treasurer May Samuels for annual property taxes. The company’s assessed valuation is 8 689 762, over 25 percent of the county’s total valuation of about 20 million. PRESENTING were Robert Patterson, Red Wash oil field superintendent, and W B E Sanderson, Chevron division sales manager. The tax payment was nearly twice the county’s total valuation in 1940. Uintah County’s valuation declined through 1930–1940 amid the nationwide trend.
