County Tax Collections Meet Debt Record Pace
County treasurer May C Bamuels reports 91.7 percent of the 1848 property tax debt paid before the November 30 delinquency date, with $239,251.31 collected of $3260,697.85. Vernal City valuation tops a million dollars for the first time at $1,146,273, while county valuation rises to about $5.95 million. Hit Run Driver Kills Artesia Man on U S 40
The body of William Hayden Turner, 48, of Artesia, formerly of Oilton, Oklahoma, died November 28 from injuries after a hit and run on U S 40 the previous day. He was struck by a light colored sedan while walking between Artesia and Wiley's Resort. Witnesses said the driver stopped at Wiley's Resort, then left without offering aid or identification. Turner leaves a wife, Mrs Marie Turner.

Promising Signs From Wildcat Near Myton Tell of Drill Progress
Reports from Pleasant Valley indicate the Wildcat near Myton has struck a 156 feet section and a 12 foot sand near the same level about three weeks ago. The gas was shut off and drilling continued to 1860 feet and then into cap rock while fishing for tools late last week. The well is owned by the Pleasant Valley Oil Corporation, located NE 14 of the NE 14 of Bec, 25, T 88, R16 E, SLM, begun early this year and drilled by C. W. Anderson company.
