Road Work Accelerates on Vernal-Manila Highway
Construction on the $5 million Vernal-Manila Road is moving fast to handle rising Flamingo Gorge recreation traffic. The project starts along North Vernal Avenue with heavy work from Elk Creek to Dowd Mountain nearing completion, opening soon. A detour via Summit Springs will route traffic back to the present road. Final work from Dow Mountain to Sheep Creek Canyon will take another one to two years, with spring use of a hard surfaced Dow Mountain Summit Springs route in the meantime. Correction noted for Chamber news on Field House visitors.
