Flaming Gorge Dam Concrete Placing In Progress
Flaming Gorge project crews anchor two 1 900 foot steel cables across the Green River chasm to guide buckets carrying 10 800 pounds of concrete into the dam. A head tower and movable right abutment towers direct the load while four tilting mixers feed a batching plant with 4 cubic yard capacity each. When active, two 4 cubic yard buckets can place concrete on the main guts with a 25 ton capacity. The plant stands 115 feet high and work targets placing one million cubic yards of concrete.

Gun Instruction Necessary for Young Hunters
Utah law requires juveniles and certain ages to show proof of gun safety training or past hunting activity before purchasing licenses. Effective April 1, 1960, residents 14 to 20 must present credentials. 17 to 20 must prove last year’s hunting and training or comparable safety training. Department warns many youths may be unable to qualify in time for the season.
