Trail Builders Tie Opponents in Ashley Contests

The Trail Builders of the Serpend ward visited Ashley last Monday and played contest games with the Ashley ward Trail Builders. They tied all games before a picnic, then went to Preeces pond for a swim. The Vernal First ward Trail Builders traveled to Napes to play football, with the First ward boys winning.

Republican Delegates Elected to State Conventions

Republican county delegates were chosen at the courthouse to attend the state convention in Salt Lake City on August 18. A large slate includes Davie Fenech Patan L. McConkie Horace Morrill and others to nominate for U S Senator governor secretary of state and other top posts. Alternate names and a long list of delegates were recorded, with notes that Senator Thomas W. O'Donnell was absent but his health is improving.

Sad Death of Lon Reynolds in Vernal

Lon Reynolds of Lapoint died Tuesday forenoon at Vernal hospital from pleurisy and typhoid fever after six weeks illness. Born May 14 1882 in Vernal to Robert B Reynolds and Rhoda Freestone he married Minnie Bigelow about ten years ago. Survived by wife three children and several siblings. Funeral services were held in Lapoint Thursday at two o'clock.

Colorado Escaped Convict Surrenders in Vernal Auto Theft Arrest

Colorado escaped convict and Denver auto thief Ralph Brown was arrested Saturday by Sheriff Cmery Johnson after a Denver Franklin sedan was traced to a Commercial hotel in Vernal. Brown, about 32, faces parole and penitentiary warrants while authorities hold the car and loot recovered from the vehicle.

Former Schriff Joseph Timothy Dies After Operation

Joseph Timothy, 63, longtime sheriff of Uintah and Duchesne counties, died at LLD hospital in Salt Lake City after an operation. A Roosevelt native born Oct 2 1865, he helped found the Uintah Basin and later lived in Bingham Canyon. He was survived by a large family including widow Lucy Jane and many children and siblings.

Mrs Mercey Family Plans Wyoming Trip with Kin

Mrs J D Mercey and her son Everett with grandsons Earl and Roy left Tuesday for an extended visit to Wyoming. They will visit Millard Massey in Manderson and plan to return via Denver to meet Hazel Massey, employed there, in a family gathering along the trip.
