In anticipation of the 1647 Centennial, the LDS church asks members to join a four part beautification program for 1941. When milestones are reached, an award will be given. Stake and ward committees are organized to lead the effort, aiming to improve homes and surroundings for a more cheerful life.
State of Utah Bank Commissioner certifies a true copy of the bank statement filed April 24 1941. It lists deposits by individuals partnerships corporations and government units and shows liabilities capital and reserves including common stock and retained earnings. Chief Examiner J M Knapp signs the certification.
Bank of Vernal Uintah County Utah reports assets totaling 550000 and deposits totaling 41435744 as of April 4 1941. The balance sheet lists loans including overdrafts of 72211 and U S government and other securities, capital and undivided profits, and reserves. liabilities include demand and time deposits and other liabilities. Official attestation by cashier J Meagher and notary and state examiner confirms accuracy of the condition statement.
A committee will survey homes in each ward to judge cleanliness and improvement using a 100 point score. Points cover repairs 20, landscaping 30, seasonal care 10, lawn and trees 10 each, and a potential 70 point theme. Families urged to participate, document progress with photos, and keep costs low.

Brigham Young University will award a $25 scholarship to outstanding Uintah High School seniors chosen for scholarship character and leadership potential. Eligible students in the top twenty five percent of the senior class may apply using blanks from Dr Carlton Culmsee, chairman of the scholarship committee. The prize will be presented at local commencement exercises.
Utah soil districts report extensive tree and shrub planting to curb erosion and protect land along Price River Minnie Maude Creek Huntigt River Green River areas. Planned include 42340 rooted trees 4 shrubs and 12000 willow cuttings, with districts coordinating stock from Logan nursery and SCS through Camp SCS 40 Price Grand and San Juan counties Moab Monticello La Sal.
