Lloyd on Senate bid decries policy flaws and calls for cross party action
The speaker, Rep Lloyd, defended his stance against GOP rival Wilkinson and urged bipartisanship in projects like the Central Utah Project. He condemned the Bay of Pigs as a future black mark, argued for canal contract renegotiation, and urged tighter Viet Nam borders with limited intervention. He warned of national debt, favored civil rights but opposed some employment provisions, and emphasized nonpolitical government on key infrastructure. A question period followed with support for economic sanctions and cautions about constitutional implications, while touting his eight years as state senator and leadership roles.
