Vernal Commercial Club Moves to New Quarters
The Vernal Commercial Club leases the upper floor of the Caldera building and relocates May 1 to ten rooms with a large assembly hall. A public camping ground for tourists is arranged on the city lot. The plan includes a ladies rest room and an Indian relics exhibit from James Hacking for visitors.

At a city council meeting Mayor Colton led a plan to prepare a public camping ground on the city lot. The decision includes building two sanitary toilets, providing water, and other improvements with Vernal city and the Commercial club financing and outfitting the site for tourists.

Utah editor elected to world press congress membership
James H. Wallis, president of the Utah State Press association, was notified of his election to membership in the press congress of the world by the executive committee. The congress, formed at the 1916 Panama Pacific Exposition, gathers representatives from nearly thirty countries. Next meeting will be in Honolulu from October 4 to 14. Walter Williams, president of the congress, heads the University of Missouri journalism school.

New Electric Bakery To Open In Vernal
Vernal MDA nearly completes plans for a fully equipped electric bakery set to operate by June 1. It will serve local wheat trade and ship daily bread by parcel post to reservation points as far as Duchesne.

First shale claims patented in Utah near Watson
Last week patents for eleven Doyle shale claims were filed with the county recorder. The patents were issued to Werner Z. Red et al and located near Watson Utah. Nile Hughes did the engineering work for Reed Interests.

Life Story and Achievements of Joseph Paulson
A Salt Lake notice records the death of Joseph Paulson on April 2 1921 at his Uintah County Utah farm near Vernal. Born December 19 1854 in Manti Utah he spent early years in Utah Montana and Nevada before settling in the San Luis Valley Colorado with his wife Julia Clawson born in 1860s. He worked in cattle range freighting mines and coal mines before a long life of varied labor and family ties.

Arbor Day activities in Vernal Second Ward
Last Friday a large body of men and boys showed public spirit in Arbor day work. The Vernal Second ward chapel grounds were leveled, 283 loads of dirt hauled, a trench dug, water pipes laid. Trees were dug up and the lawn prepared for planting with beds of flowers planned. Teams from multiple wards plus Uintah academy boys aided. citizens can take pride in the improved grounds surrounding church buildings.

Severe fall injures Orpheus roof worker Adair
Tuesday afternoon H. Adair was severely bruised after falling from the slanting roof of the Orpheus while tar coating. The ladder loosened, he struck a barrel, breaking a rib and bruising his hip. A physician treated him. he rests at home and expects to be out in a few days.

Salt Lake City April 16 Dean J L Gibson of the school of arts and sciences is first chosen by four secret ballots for president of the University of Utah. Dr Joseph F Merrill ties as second choice on the final ballot. The committee will aid the regents in selecting a president to succeed John A Whitmore with resigning from the apostolic quorum. Gibson, a Vernal native, leads on all ballots and Merrill closely follows.
