Uintah Basin Paper Mill Proposed at Snowflake Arizona
Last August a new pulp and paper mill was groundbreaking in Snowflake Arizona with a 40 million dollar investment. It would be the first newsprint mill in the Southwest, start up in November producing Kraft and Hxerboort, with newsprint a month later. The project promises 1000 new jobs and keeps dollars in the region through local raw materials from Ponderosa pine, waste lumber, and regional pulpwood. The Uintah Basin timberland and Ashley National Forest offer vast timber resources, and the Chamber of Commerce and San Francisco Chemical Co. interest could spur rail expansion to attract industry and boost the rural economy.

Freeman warns on farm costs and consumer misunderstanding
