Christmas in the Baynes homestead near Canton
Barton and kin recall a Northern Christmas in a rough log house. The family gathers around a warm stove as gifts pour in, a silver watch and blue cloth for Barton. Old Kate, the Silent Woman, arrives to share in the feast and memory, while Aunt Deel and Uncle Peabody show quiet kindness that anchors the boy’s sense of belonging and future.
