Timber surveys in the Ashley Uintah and Wasatch Forests show 11 inches plus diameter lodgepole pine and Engleman spruce trees totaling about 2.314 million ties and 2.517 billion board feet of sawtimber in the Uintah Basin. Current tie timber could furnish about 1.6 thousand carloads yearly for 47 years with growth to 500 000 ties annually later, contingent on transport links to outside markets.
William Evans a Vernal baker died Monday April 7 after an illness of over two months sinus trouble led to his death. Funeral at the Vernal First Ward chapel, burial in Vernal cemetery. He was born May 23 1900 in Vernal and married Thelma Coupe in 1923, leaving a wife two children and siblings. He had worked with his brother Bert Evans at City Bakery and later for Verdum Packing in San Francisco before returning to Vernal.
A G Nord reported at a Lions luncheon on ICC hearings regarding the D and RGW Dotsero cutoff and Moffat tunnel. Discussion covered Utah federal road funds 4.1 million and Vernal Ashley Valley road routes, favoring the monument east route as most feasible for the community.

The Big Horn Basin in Wyoming reaches a million dollar bean crop value for 1929, driven by the Basin Co operative Marketing Association and Basin Dean company. Managers forecast 14 million pounds through the association plus seed and local use, with large acreages fed by power farming and strong 4-H and club results across the basin.

Mr and Mrs. Willis Bourdette welcomed a baby boy on Wednesday April 9. Both mother and infant are reported to be doing nicely.
