Echo Park Dam to create 1000 jobs yearly over five years

Reclamation Bureau released figures on Echo Park and Glen Canyon projects. Echo Park Dam would average about 1,000 jobs annually during a five year construction, with a peak of 2,000. The contract would need 42,500 tons of steel, 2,850,000 barrels of cement, a million board feet of lumber, 500 tons aluminium, and 1,250 tons copper. Total payroll around 20 million dollars yearly at peak. off site materials add about 2,000 more jobs. The memo cites a 60 million acre feet storage and over a million kilowatts of power.

Sarah Corless Dies Funeral Held Today

Funeral services for Mrs Sarah Jane Davies Corless 76 are held at the Weed Chapel. She died Monday at 2 pm at home after a heart ailment. Born June 10 1879 in Cumbrials to John J Davies, she moved to Salt Lake City at age ten and Vernal at sixteen where she wed Edward T Jones in 1897. Surviving: one son, Mrs Lila John, and two brothers Dan and Fred Davies. twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Burial at Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery.

Thieves Break Into Conoco Service in Dinosaur

Dinosaur Conoco Service at 901 East Main was burglarized Wednesday night. Entry was gained by breaking a front door glass. Several cans of motor oil were taken. the cash register was pried open but empty. attempts to open the coke machine failed. Manager Reed Taylor discovered the break-in at 7 am. Funeral Services Held For Fall Victim Durfee

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Second Ward Chapel for Morris Durfee who died in a mining accident at the Mine when he fell 180 feet into water. Born July 1, 1910, he was the son of Edmond Frank Durfee and Nancy Ellen Martix Durfee. Two Grass Fires Reported Near Vernal

The Vernal Fire Department battled two grass fires last week along the rate zond ing Maczer near de uMalles and on a lot near West North. No damage occurred. Four Mexican workers were signed to help with the crop this week, with more to come by next Wednesday.
