Weevil Spraying Should Be Done
Farmers should spray alfalfa fields early this spring to control the alfalfa weevil. Uintah County Agent Bill Farnsworth cites USDA and Utah State University guidance urging spraying before two inches of growth to kill adults before egg laying and avoid residue in harvested forage. Heptachlor and dieldrin recommended with a mix of water and precise chemical amounts per acre.
