Senators Seek Public Land Funds for Jensen to Bonanza Road
Utah Senator Wallace Dennett has asked the Bureau of Public Roads to allocate public land funds to build the Jensen Utah to Bonanza Road Junction segment on U S Highway 40. He notes $3 million is available next fiscal year for public land states and expects apportionment in April or May. Bennett urges high priority for the Jensen east segment.

Faculty and students at Uintah High School enjoy a Friday party and 2 pm dismissal this week for parent teacher conferences. Vern Shimmin Funeral Held Here Tuesday
Funeral services for W. Vern Shimmin seventy were held Tuesday at 2 pm in Vernal Fifth Ward Chapel. He died Friday of a heart attack while at work at an Ogden bank. Burial was in Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery with grave dedication by Philip Watkins. Surviving are his widow Edith Samuels Shimmin and a sister Mia Snyder of Vernal.

Funeral rites for Michael Moront Cook 77 were held Monday at 11 am Internal Third Ward Chapel with Aston Jolley conducting He died last Tuesday in Uintah County hospital after a brief illness The service included prayers, music, and readings by family and friends Cook born March 25 1884 in Salt Lake City moved to Vernal as a child He and Lydia Hardy married in 1905 and started a building trade in Vernal Later worked for Raven Oil Company retiring in 1957 Survived by his wife two sons and three daughters 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren

The Veterans Administration Regional Office in Salt Lake City announced a quarterly visit to Vernal on April 11 and 12 to assist veterans and dependents. Thomas St Buttrey will be at the Employment Security Office from 1 PM to 4 PM on April 11 and from 8 AM to noon on April 12 to hear problems and questions on veterans affairs.
