Changes in Postal Laws Effective April 15 1925
An act approved February 28 1925 introduces numerous changes to postal rates across classes. First class private mailing cards rise to two cents. government cards remain one cent. Second class rates apply two cents per two ounces up to eight ounces, then fourth class rates thereafter. Third class covers books catalogs seeds and more with one and a half cents per ounce or two cents per two ounces for eight ounces, with special rates for certain items. Fourth class adds a 2 cent service charge on parcels except rural routes, with Special Handling not creating a new delivery. Registered mail fees vary by class and value, with options for receipts. Special delivery fees scale by weight and insured mail rates add further prepaid fees. CO D and money orders introduce new collection and insurance fees.
