Former County Clerk Carlstrom Sentenced To State Prison

L William Carlstrom former Alistair county clerk was sentenced to an indefinite term not to exceed five years by District Judge Martin M Larson after being found guilty of unlawfully appropriating fifty dollars of public money. A five day stay to file a motion for new trial or appeal was granted and a favorable pardon recommendation considered due to perceived inexperience.

Meeting of Advisory Board of District No 8 Here Today

The Advisory Board with Grazing Service members meets at the Court House today to hear appeals and complaints on summer licenses. The session is expected to continue Friday. Award Contracts For Paying 18 Miles of US 40

Bids on two contracts for construction work on US 40, totaling over 2.13 million dollars, were opened Tuesday at the state road commission offices. Reynolds-Ely Construction Co. of Springville won the grade, base, and surfacing bid for 8.835 miles between Duchesne and Fruitland at 105,380.60. North Western Engineering Co. of Rapid City, SD, bid 2,862,230.00 for laying a rock asphalt surface on 9.203 miles from Fort Duchesne to Halfway Hollow, with asphalt prepared in the Uintah Basin from local deposits and supplied under a separate contract.

Funeral Held For Lynn Freestone In Vernal Chapel

Funeral services for Lynn David Freestone were held Friday at Vernal First Ward chapel with Bishop Pontha Calder ree ard ing and counselor Werren D Richardson conducting. The chapel was filled with family and friends as music by the Vernal First Ward choir accompanied by Mrs John Brage. Pneumonia Claims Life of E. Ted Corless in Vernal

Edward Thomas Corless known as Ted died Tuesday at 8 10 pm after a severe pneumonia. Born Sept 3 1873 in Bast Lake City, he lived in Ashley Valley, worked in Bonanza Dilsonite mines, Uintah Railway toll bridge keeper, later at Red Front garage. Survived by widow, four children, three brothers, two sisters, and ten grandchildren. Funeral Saturday at 2 pm in Vernal First Ward chapel with Bishop Calder.
