Never Eat Any Batter Here in New York and Penn

A humorous sketch recounts a New York hotel diner who refuses batter, a Philadelphia waiter quips that Pennsylvanians never eat batter, and travel notes describe an October market scene in Philadelphia with butter shelves, fruit, and dairy imagery. It also mentions Mr. D. T. Adams of San Jose keeping Easter pears through winter, fruit handling tips, and notes on farming topics including hops and fertilizer.
