Adam Pulley, longtime Landersville resident, died of heart failure at the Studioaker elevator in Van Buren Mo. He was found by James Tittea and Dr G G Richardson pronounced dead. Funeral services were held at Landessville Christian Church with burial in Landessville cemetery. he served in the Civil War and leaves a large family and many relatives.
Osborne, trustee of Washington township, Blackford County, announced the teaching staff for the coming term. Repairs have been made to the building and buses will transport students. J. L. Henderson remains principal. Byron Henderson returns as mathematics and Spanish teacher. Jean Lathon teaches English and History. Ernestine Farr handles domestic science, music and art. Fred Glancy is principal of the graded school and teaches 7th and 8th grades. Florence Runkle teaches 5th and 6th grades. Dorothy Barett teaches 3rd and 4th grades. Ruth Storms leads the primary department.
For years a large music company with stores in major cities has made August the peak month for its anniversary sale. In August 1922 the ad volume was greater than ever and hundreds of pianos were sold. This year the company again used ample space and expects to surpass all prior records despite overall business dip.
The revival services led by the Rev. L. F. Groseclose start Sunday September 30 at Central Church of Christ in Van Buren. Aimed at reviving religious life across miles, the evangelist is well known and welcomes all.
The season starts with Jonsboro High visiting Van Buren High at Williamson Field. Van Buren, aiming for the county title, has been training daily under Coach Lane to field a strong lineup. A large crowd is expected to attend.
Mr and Mrs W A Paxton departed Wednesday for Indianapolis to visit wholesale houses and buy merchandise for W A Paxton Co department store. They plan to return Friday with new goods arriving next week and promise a superior fall and winter line in Van Buren.

Mrs. Samuel Evans died at her home in Landessville at 2 50 after a long paralysis. Born Jeannette Ann Hartzok July 10 1860 she married Samuel Evans in 1876 and had five children Albert Lessie Mollie William Verina and Tudnall. Seventeen grandchildren survive along with two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held at the Landers Church of the Brethren and burial followed in Tinkel cemetery.
Mrs Karl Bennet of Warren won first place in a special jam display and preserves at the state fair. She earned fifty prizes in the culinary department, the most premiums of any individual, as per the department supervisor Mrs Edward Hatch.
The public library will open at 12 o'clock Friday as the painting is finished and hours shift to 12 to 5 each afternoon. The librarian invites all to browse and borrow, with books for all ages and a chair to enjoy the evening. Dr. Cecil I. Garrison, new chiropractor, subscribed The Chiropractor and Clinical Journal for the library.
A Wednesday night band concert drew a good crowd and will continue as weather allows. The program for next week remains to be announced with details yet to be specified.
The News-Eagle expresses appreciation to Dr. Richardson and family for a box of peaches and two kinds of grapes from the Richardson place.
Ezekiel Boxell administrator advertises the sale of farm and town property belonging to the late James Boxell. The sale opens October 6 at the Farmers Trust Bank in the city and continues daily until sold.
A Cappers Weekly critique notes that 43 million from Willian Rockefeller's estate was held in tax free bonds. It argues issuances totaling over a billion dollars annually enable wealthy families to evade taxes while subjects pay for these bonds through increased living costs.
The Volunteer Chaos of the Coastal Church of Christ presents The Bashful Mr Bobbs a three act farce at the opera house Friday September 21. Admission is 25 and 50 cents with a large cast led by Robert V Bobbs and Katherine Henderson in the leads.
An inventory filed in Madison Circuit Court by W. U. P. Diba as receiver lists tangible assets of Anderson Foundry and Machine Co a Dollings Co subsidiary. It shows assets at 2 807 250 64 including patents copyrights goodwill and product development. Liabilities include notes to International Note and Mortgage Co and current operating expenses. The receivership aims to give current liabilities preference over Dollings notes.
Prof. LC Davis accepts a post at Marion College. Several teachers take positions in Marion area schools including North Manchester township, Marion City, Washington township, Anderson City, Roll, Liberty Center, and nearby facilities. Miss Dorothy Duckwall joins the Marion School of Music faculty and will reside in Marion, teaching piano and returning to Van Buren weekly for students.
A large turnout from Lamdess ville and Van Buren plus private vehicles gathered for a Klan meeting in Montpelier last night. Reportedly the mayor announced he would not permit a parade, sparking public curiosity on his planned action to stop it.
Miss Ruby Layman of Warren and Mr. Fred Schroyer of Muncie were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. B. DePoy, sharing a day of hospitality and conversation.
Miss Pauline Place of Pennville, a missionary to Japan, sailed for Nagasaki aboard the Taiyo Maru and landed there safely. Dispatches said the ship sent distress signals at one point, but sister Olive Place reported no distress.
The petit jury venire for the September term of the Grant Circuit Court has been summoned to appear next Monday September 17. Roscoe Nye and his mother Mrs H C Nye announce a public sale of a large quantity of personal property on Wednesday September 19. The sale includes considerable livestock farming implements and corn.

Mrs. Sarah Elliott, about seventy five, died Saturday morning at her Van Buren home from heart failure. She had lived in Van Buren most of her life and leaves a sister Mrs. Catherine Nelson and brother Dir. Samuel Flora. She was twice married, first to Dr. Coorpe Robinson, then to John Elliott, with one child who predeceased her. Funeral held by Rev. John T. Bridwell. music by a quartet. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
