A surprise reception for Rev. J O Campbell and his wife at the Methodist church was arranged by the Ladies Aid Society. About 300 members attended as a piano solo, quartette, readings, vocal solo, and an address celebrated the pastor’s arrival from Hamilton. Refreshments followed the program.

Ponies Runaway With Milk Wagon In Town Run
Two ponies belonging to Frank Studabaker ran away Monday morning as they pulled a milk wagon toward the east end brick street. Marshal Roberts, riding in the wagon, restrained the horses and kept them from injuring people while they sped through the business district well past the legal limit until the grade in the west end stopped them.

Bridge Collapse Near Creviston Traps Wagon and Horses
George Oswalt escaped a burial under a team when the Creviston bridge failed last Friday afternoon. Horses and a wagon plunged to the creek bed as workmen lifted the wagon off, with Oswalt bruised but not fatally injured and his son aiding in rescue.

Bicycle Thief Captured After Van Buren Ride
City Marshal Roberts nabbed Alval Glover a recent reform school graduate who rented stolen bicycle on May 9, rode to Van Buren and sold it to the marshal. Mills arrived to take custody after Roberts described the wheel, ending in the lockup before transfer to Jeffersonville.

Arcana Hotel Burns in Sunday Night Fire
The Arcana Hotel, owned by James Strange, burned just before 9 o clock Sunday night. The unoccupied two story frame building held some furniture and was a local gathering place on Sundays for cards and amusement. Fire loss amount is not known.
