A large audience of 233 attended the Methodist Sunday School service on Sunday morning. Ned Conwell led his new orchestra, delighting those present as W F Williamson assisted the superintendent away on family illness. The section reports widespread sickness affecting Sunday Schools.

Lucy Ann Palmer died March 21 1919 at her home in Monroe township Grant County Indiana aged 81 years 7 months 18 days She was born July 3 1837 in North Hampton county North Carolina widow of George Stout later married Samuel Palmer She united with United Brethren Church about 1874 Funeral services were held at her son Thomas Stouts home conducted by Rev J O Campbell Interment at Oak Chapel cemetery

Interesting relic ticket from 1875 Marion Fair voyage

Barber Mr. H S Knight showed a relic ticket to the Marion fair dated 1875 admitting Knight and family. The ticket arose when Mr. Knight drove Mrs. Swan and friends to the Grant County Agricultural & Stock Show using a family admission misprinted for Knight and family. The owners recall the journey with Mrs. Swan joking about the large family.

Phi Delts Capture State Basketball Championship

The Phi Delta Kappa basketball team of Bluffton won the state title last Thursday night by defeating the Kokomo Chamber of Commerce 30 to 23 at Fort Wayne. The Phi Delts had previously beaten the Van Buren Independents 54 to 23, and are praised as a gentlemanly, fast, and classy team.

Mr and Mrs T B Dicken receive a card from their grandson Forrest Higgins dated Camp Dix New Jersey March 24 noting arrival from overseas. Higgy sailed from France March 6 and asks for letters as he likely will not stay long at Camp Dix. Welcome home Higgy.

Plans for New Elevator In Van Buren Detailed

Secretary treasurer L M Hydorn of Farmers Equity Exchange says definite plans for a new elevator will be announced within 15 days. Over 175 farmers have bought stock at $100 per share though some locations and acquisitions are still under discussion. Final campaign outcomes depend on distant farmers joining and potential purchase of Studabaker Grain and Seed Co elevator.

Daylight Saving Time Starts On March 30

The notice instructs turning clocks ahead one hour at 2 a m on Sunday March 30 to begin daylight saving time. Clocks will be set back one hour at 2 a m on the last Sunday in October.
