Farmers Equity Exchange organized near Van Buren
About 150 farmers from the Van Buren vicinity met at the Riley and Duckwall daily last Friday afternoon March 7 and formed a Farmers Equity Exchange. James Strange served as temporary chairman and L G Line spoke on co operatives and Northwest models. Directors elected were Dahl Strickler L M Hyhorn Charles Nelson Clint Cramer Van Doyle with stock subscriptions nearing 150 by the next meeting March 18 as farmers rally to build a strong local exchange.

Sergeant Curtis O Strange Sent to Berlin for Prison Camp Work
Sergeant Curtis O Strange travels from Clamecy France to Semur then to Berlin for detached duty at a Russian prison camp. He joined his unit at Semur after four hours and spent days on the Rhine while en route. He will stay in Berlin until armistice terms are signed. The couple lives in Marion at 310 East Seventh Street.

North Indians conference to meet in Peru in April
The seventy sixth annual North Indians conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church convenes in Peru from April 1 to 7. Bishop Thomas Nicholson of Chicago will preside. Peru pastor Charles H. Smith leads arrangements. sessions will use M E Church and other local houses. Evangelistic services are set for 4 pm midweek. Friday features a concert by the M E church choir and lecture by Dr Frank Gunsaulus.

The girls of Mrs. DePoy's class performed well with a class song, a piano solo by Miss Dorothy Duckwall, and a reading by Miss Lucille Stackhouse. Bad weather kept many from hearing the performance.

The News-Eagle's large press failed last week causing a late edition after moving the forms to Marion for printing. Telephone calls from patrons asking about missing papers poured in while rural carriers were warned off. The press is repaired and editors vow no further delays.
