Kings Heralds Elect Officers in Saturday Meeting

Miss Lucille Faxton and Anna Margate Paxton hosted the Kings Heralds on Saturday. Officers elected include President Helen Wright and vice presidents Ethel Eubanks and Lucille Paxton, with Minnie Jones as recording secretary and Oca Howard as assistant secretary. Warren and Van Buren split games with Warren claiming the second win 33 to 29 on Warren floor. Bonifield and Tam led Warren while Melling and Crevis ton starred for Van Buren in a close season finale.

County Commencement 13 Discontinued by Trustees

Grant County trustees held their monthly meeting with County Superintendent Hall and decided to discontinue the annual county commencement for graduates of county schools. Some township commencements may be held, while Van Buren township did not have one last year and is unlikely to this year. Seventh grade pupils will not take diploma exams except in geography and physiology. exams for all pupils must be taken in their home township unless joint schools exist.

Huntington Giants Of Van Buren A A Tie Ends In Defeat

The Huntington Giants defeated Van Buren A A on the local floor Saturday night by 28 to 8. Van Buren led 17 to 11 at halftime but faded in the second half as Huntington overpowered them. Jack Melling returned from a minor injury while Ferguson missed the game with a hand injury. this marked the last regular-season contest.
