Draftees From Grant County Prepare for June 26 Entrainment

The second conscription district of Grant county will furnish thirty-seven additional men for the army who will entrain at Upland next Wednesday, June 26, and be sent to Camp Sherman in Chillicothe, Ohio. Names include Ralph Pry and Chas Ruley, with substitutes listed for illness or inability to travel.

War Savings Stamps Drive Urges Nationwide Pledge

Dr W W Mott township War Savings chair reports Wilson’s call to buy War Savings Stamps. June 28 mass meetings to tally tax payers and wage earners, with pledged purchases through year end. Memorial service of K P and I O O F at Methodist Church

Members of the K P and I O O F lodges held a joint memorial service at the Methodist Church. They met at lodge rooms, marched to the church where Rev. W T Arnold delivered the address. Afterward they marched to the cemetery to decorate the graves of deceased members.

Obituary of Sarah A. Herring Riggs of Warren Indiana

Sarah A. Herring Riggs died after a long illness at age 72 in 1918 after moving to Grant county with her parents in 1855. She married Sameus M. Riggs in 1867 and had four children C V Riggs C J Riggs Clara M Bell and Pearlie M Coomler. She joined the United Brethren Church in 1885 and remained a faithful member until death. Funeral services were held at the U B Church in Warren with burial in Jones cemetery.
