Pleasure Trip Through Vanished Town After Storm

Mr and Mrs Eubanks and their daughter Benny along with Mr and Mrs O N Falls and daughter Glenda toured the area where Falls once lived. They visited Edgerton on the Indiana Ohio line and Pleasant Grove along the Lincoln Highway near Fort Wayne noting widespread destruction with many houses gone. Falls recalled farmers offering low wages to rebuild barns as the neighbor- hood was devastated. The excursion in a Ford covered 198 miles using 8 1 2 gallons of gas and one quart of oil.

Home Fund campaign shows growing support but short of needed funds

Farmers Held June Meeting At Van Buren High

The Van Buren Township Agricultural Association met in the high school auditorium for a June gathering. Otis Crane of Marion spoke on Farmers Organizations, addressing labor unions, political corruption, and farmer representation, with Miss Estaline Henderson praised for a reading and County Secretary O. W. Flores noting wool pooling in the state.

Fourth of July Plans For Van Buren Celebration

A traditional Fourth of July is planned for Van Buren with attractions including a greased pole a greased pig and other contests. A US senator may be invited as speaker. W F Williamson will donate the pig and E S Howard will place a $5 gold piece on top of the greased pole. Watch for announcements.

Warren Grows 28 Percent to 1520 Residents in a Decade

Census figures released this week show Warren with 1,520 residents, up 331 since ten years ago, a gain just under 28 percent. Nearby towns Andrews 1,071 Roanoke 760 Markle 747 College Park 169 Mt Etna 187 also listed with varied changes as oil-field departures previously depressed Warren’s population.

Landessville to connect to M. and B. line grows

Landessville, a 75 resident town, was last week connected to the M. and B. light and power system with thirty consumers. Officials expect the number of customers to rise to forty soon.

The Van Buren W C T U will host an all day meeting with Mrs. William Plummer next Wednesday. Everyone is invited to attend with well filled baskets and spend the day.

Death of Well Known Majenica Man Henry W Harvey

Henry W Harvey aged sixty nine died Thursday at his Union township home Huntington county. He founded a Majenica tile business after moving from Wabash and Rush counties. He married three times, survived by sons Otto and Kelly, and funeral services were held at First Christian church Huntington with I O O F members attending. Interment at Lancaster.

Funeral Services for George Havens Today

Funeral services for George Havens 69 who died Sunday night at his Van Buren home were held at 10 30 this morning at the Christian church in Landersville. Interment followed in Van Buren cemetery. Surviving are his wife four children Simon Augusta Kansas William Eldorado Kansas two daughters in law Mrs Vern Bradford Sweetser and Mrs Frank Hamaker Marion and four sisters Mrs J M Dodd California Mrs Susan Scott Marion Mrs Isaac Draper Van Buren and Mrs John Zuck Oklahoma.

The Van Buren township commencement at Riley & Duckwall hall celebrated 24 graduates led by Earl Allen who tied for highest honors with his sister Della Allen. Bernice Foreman won the declamatory medal for Opera Encore, with Thelma Lucas second for Aunt Elinora's Hero.
