Town board clarifies the waterworks plan for Van Buren. The system would serve every house with 22 fire plugs and 100 psi water pressure, financed by bonds over eight to ten years, with minimal tax impact and insurance savings. The project aims to improve health, fire protection, town beauty, and civic life.
William Jennings Bryan, noted three time presidential candidate and author of many peace treaties, resigns from the cabinet Tuesday due to irreconcilable differences with President Wilson over Germany policy. He returns to private life after the president accepts the resignation.
Through her attorney T B Dicken Mrs India Frances Peters of this city filed suit in the superior court praying for divorce from Edward A Peters who now resides in Texas The Peters have been residents of Van Buren on West Main Street Mr Peters is employed in Port Arthur Texas
Ordnance from the Town of Van Buren Grant County Indiana to issue bonds not exceeding 310,000 for a waterworks construction. Election set June 24 1915 to determine necessity with public notice and polling at Town Hall. Provisions detail a 12 inch well 420 feet deep, pumps, hydrants, and 6 and 4 inch mains with estimated costs and labor.
Mrs Curtis Strange welcomed members of the Young Ladies Embroidery Club and guests at her East Vine Street home Friday for a miscellaneous shower for Miss Zera Boller whose June 9 marriage to Clarence Beck of Royalton was recent. The pink white decor matched the luncheon as attendees posed for a group photo.
John Umphress of Huntington died when M and B traction struck his west bound car one mile southwest of Warren at Leonard crossing. His wife and two daughters suffered serious injuries while Mr and Mrs William Rees were badly hurt. Helen Umphress is in critical condition with brain concussion and possible internal injuries.

The U. B. Church plans wiring for electric lights. Arrangements are being made and the work should be finished before the quarterly conference, expected to convene in about two weeks.
