Duckwall Family Patriarch Joseph F Duckwall Dies at 85

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning for Joseph Franklin Duckwall born March 28 1834 in Highland County Ohio who died June 2 1919 at age 85. Burial followed at Corey Cemetery. He married Eliza Jane Green on July 8 1860 and had four children William John Mary Cloud and Levi Clinton. Surviving relatives include Aunt Miranda Corey 88 and ten grandchildren.

Van Buren Men Capture Prizes at Hartford City Rabbit Show

John Corey and Lloyd Pilkington led Van Buren entries with multiple ribbons at Indiana's largest rabbit show in Hartford City. Corey won first on light steel gray Flemish junior buck and placed second and fourth on the same class. Pilkington earned fourth in senior dark steel gray Flemish buck in a 14 entry class.

False Salvation Army fundraiser warned after misrepresentation

A Hartford City representative for a rescue mission solicited funds in Gas City and nearby areas wearing a Salvation Army like uniform. Officials questioned him in Gas City on Wednesday. He claimed to be a former branch worker and said he was following up a Salvation Army drive. He received a warning about future representations. Many residents donated believing they supported the Salvation Army.

Child Burns Hand In Stove Incident at Ferguson Home

The Ferguson child suffered severe burns on both hands and part of an arm after pulling up to a stove while parents worked outside. A physician treated the injuries and believes there will be no permanent disability.
