New schedule for the Farmers Institute at Purdy University shifts two talks to February 4. Mrs. Sewell of Olverbein Indiana cannot attend due to her husband’s illness, and Mrs. Ogg Greencastle will speak with strong endorsement from Prof Latta.

Town Board Fixes Salaries for City Officials
At the regular meeting last Friday the town board adopted an ordinance setting salaries for city officials in the current term. Marshal Roberts agreed to the board’s proposed pay of 950 per month for both marshal and street commissioner or 825 for each office. Town Clerk 300 per year. Town Trustee 75 per year. City attorney 150 per year. A public hitch rack and cleanup of the dumping ground were discussed. The next board meeting is the second Friday night in February.

First Poultry Show Set for Van Buren February 3
Arrangements are complete for Van Buren’s first poultry show to open Tuesday morning February 3 with at least 200 birds expected. Ducks turkeys chickens and geese will compete judged by Otie Crane county agent using the comparison method. Birds must be entered by February 2 with 29 birds accepted on Tuesday.
