Frank Wright age 71 of Van Buren Indiana died January 20 1922 at his home after a long illness. He was born February 25 1851 in Switzerland County and married Julia A. Baker in 1875. Surviving are five children and five others including Edgar and Harry at home, plus three sisters and two brothers. Funeral held January 22 at Milo Church with Rev E Q Allen. interment Woodlawn Cemetery Warren.
Van Buren U B church offers Sunday School at 9 30 a m morning worship at 10 30 a m class meeting at 7 p m and a Christian Endeavor session in the evening
Mrs Valance Slater of Warren attended teachers institute here Saturday and visited her parents Mr and Mrs Dan McMillan.

The Van Buren Township Farmers Federation met at the public library and elected Chairman Adam Hillard Vice Chairman Landess White and Secretary Treasurer Wm Bien for the coming year. A mass meeting is set for Saturday January 28 at 1 30 pm to discuss membership growth and a shipping association report detailing two train loads of live stock sold for local farmers with costs and profits.
Van Buren A A defeated Uniondale K P 51 to 20 in a fast basketball game. Van Buren led 15 15 at halftime then outscored the visitors 36 5 in the second half as Creviston and Doyle led the A A squad with strong inside play. Lineups listed for both teams. Senator Harry S New announces race for U S Senate and is welcomed to visit Van Buren if he candidates.
Young America K P team crushed Van Buren A A 50 to 23 on their home floor Monday night. Beck the Young America forward dazzled with speed as Van Buren struggled with team play and defense. Van Buren had 17 wins and 7 losses overall but could not match Young America's fast break and shooting.
Ray Waggaman of Van Buren visited Elsworth Farr and Mrs. Smiley Farr and their daughter Millie Mary. The crowd traveled by mud boat to see Miss Genevieve Farr. Christina Banter has chicken pox at Abraham Banter's home. Velma Lytle and Millie Mary Farr attended church in Van Buren.
Stock holders and directors met at the public library for the Farmers Elevator Co annual session. Reports praised rising business under manager Everett McVicker. Speakers E G McCollum of Indianapolis and John A Peterson of Marion urged farmers to treat the elevator as a community cooperative owned by farmers, stressing capitalization organizing and patronage.
Hartford City comes to town Saturday night January 31 to face the locals in a key basketball matchup. The locals plan a stronger showing than against Young America and urge fans to travel with the team to Hartford City next Wednesday to return the game. The anticipated lineup includes Van Buren McGeath Creviston Hoehammer Wintrode Towns Pisiacet Doyle Jones Ferguson Palmer Stroup Sinclair Doyle Gate vees V Doyle. The Hartford City squad, fresh off a 51 25 win over Oswego, features Stonebraker and several veterans from the high school state tournament run. Admission is 25 cents.
At a Methodist Church event last Monday evening two striking figures spoke of transformation. Happy Meikel, a former street Arab and actor turned Christian Army organizer, shared a life story from his abduction as a baby in West Philadelphia to his rescue work and a conversion poem The Hellbound Train. His son Young Happy supported with singing and a clear testimony for Jesus, handling the tambourine with skill.
Mr and Mrs Geo Beire and their sons departed Wednesday to start a new life in Canton Ohio marking a relocation announcement for the family.
Mrs. L. E. Kilander departed Tuesday to visit relatives in Indianapolis.
The Central Church of Christ will dedicate its new building on South First and Vine streets next Sunday January 29 with an all day meeting and free noon dinner Rev C W Cauble serves as dedicator and Rev A L Martin is pastor A week of evangelistic services follows with sermons by Rev Dillman Rev Moore and Rev McCune plus music by local and visiting talent.
A stockholders meeting of the Van Buren Athletic Association elected a new board of directors: W H Plummer W A Worrell B S Howard L M Camblin W W Mott Dean Paxton O G Willey. New officers named: President W W Mott Vice President W A Worrell Secretary L M Camblin Treasurer W H Plummer.
Mrs Clarence Wilkinson of New Castle visits her parents Mr Henry Korporal Mrs Henry Korporal and daughters Eva and Helen for a few days.
