Fred Clarke, after fifteen years as manager of the Pittsburg National League Club, plans to quit and retire to his Kansas farm. He won four pennants, kept the club near the leaders, and was one of the great outfielders, finishing his career close to the .300 mark.
Twenty thousand Japanese enthusiasts saw the University of Chicago baseball team win the first game of its acres with Waseda University, by a score of 8 to 2. The American victory was due to clever base running and timely hitting. George W. Guthrie and Dr. Banas Takati attended.
A chaotic early season baseball game in Vernon saw a one sided blowout as Baltimore Lake overwhelmed by a wide margin though the final score remained 3 to 2. Key plays by Purtoll Kane and Haylesa highlighted the misplays across the field led by mixed pitching.
National League motion shows Chicago in last place after two defeats by Philadelphia 8 to 1 and 3 2. The Phillies jumped ahead in the first game behind Bulligan and strong pitching by Alexander, while Chicago managed a lone run in the second. Brooklyn edged Cincinnati 2 to 1 as Griffith’s sixth inning error proved pivotal in a separate game.
In a tight game at Tuna, New York defeats St. Louis 7 to 3 behind a triple in the second inning and timely hits. Teereng drove in three runs on a single and two doubles, while Beams contributed with a key single. Fred Clarke ends his last NL appearance as Pirates top Boston 4 to 0, with Mu Masur starting and Cooper finishing.
In Boston on September 12 the Red Sox defeated Cleveland 6 to 4 and 4 to 2. Wood struggled after a month, Coumbre and Roth contributed, while Evans and Wambeneane added runs. In the second game Fas and Beaton won as Josh Gordon hit a long homer. Graney broke his collarbone on a difficult catch.

Richard Haselin’s durelog and jokes draw laughs while several funerals and local notices appear amid the bill. The event showcases European dances, a striking modern waltz, and strong crowd responses.
