Rome Nov 16 the Austro German push from Asiago to the Piave failed and Italian lines held all positions attacked yesterday across the Piave while heavy artillery battled on the Venetian plains. The town of Cismon north of the front was reported captured by Germans, with 1000 Italians taken near the Adriatic. Venice faces evacuation as floods from Piave and Sile rivers flood a triangle between the rivers and the Adriatic, threatening defense of the city and its monuments.

Mrs. Silliament of Konifleli California was sentenced to a term in the workhouse. her husband, a tariff commissioner, paid the fine. The case of Mrs. Wier, wife of a refined expert, sought an appeal after a workhouse term was proposed. The attorney advised settlement through a clear agreement, with further court guidance to follow.
