Naples reports that Signor Rosano minister of finance in the new Italian cabinet shot himself in his room and died. Earlier in Rome Socialist critics charged him with corruption and threatened to raise the matter in the chamber.
Denver reports indicate a wide coal strike in Colorado with district 15 workers obeying a statewide call. Northern fields see full walkouts over the eight hour day. Sheriff preparations and troop readiness surround miners camps as 10 000 plus workers join the action.
George E. Saner of Pemyer arrived to pursue a legal action to recover real estate believed valued near 500 000 dollars. The property in question was held in the name of the late Dr Ice Lane and forms part of a large estate in the city.
Reports from all Utah coal camps including Sunny Side Castle Gate Clear Creek and Winter Quarters state no strike has occurred among about 1960 miners and union membership is light. Des Moines police and Rock Island officials scouted the countryside from a special train near Marsham after a robbery. Detectives and bloodhounds failed to find a trail. a wounded tramp shot near the right of way remains in hospital care in Des Moines.
The 58th Congress opened in extraordinary session to enact Cuban reciprocity. Crowds filled the Capitol as floral pieces honored Senators Hanna and Gorman. The House elected Jos G Cannon as Speaker after a vote of 193 to 170. Williams presented Cannon to the chamber with praise for fairness to the minority.
