Memory's Scrapbook of Lincoln's War Time Witness
An Ogden man recalls two dramatic Civil War episodes linked to Lincoln. He describes the reprieve of a Massachusetts private sentenced to death for sleeping on post, the president’s personal journey to save him, and the later Yorktown fighting where a captain killed after pleading to honor his mother. The recollection blends memory, reverence, and the impact of Lincoln’s choices on war’s human cost.
