Richfield May 2a Copper magnate Mr Wilkes, recently backing the Jay copper property near Yerington, arrives after logging progress with high grade ore and a tunnel reaching the vein. He plans to ship ore to the United States smelter via Wabuska, with ore from Gold Coin group expected to exceed 29 percent copper. He also reports rich gold ore at Palmetto and Leash Valley claims and foresees major activity across the Yerington and Goldfield districts as roads, tunnels, and a new shaft developments proceed.
Report notes Optolon's victory as a seagoing report to be submitted at Nid Seaglon. Arthur Drew arrested for forging two checks totaling 45 200. confined in city jail pending further charges by Police Chief George Shoots. Captain John B. Durbidge and officials outline upcoming warrant sworn charging Sir Brown with forgery and related offenses. Brown remained in good spirits but declined questions. no formal complaint yet. Death notices include Frank Smith of Mercur passing after pneumonia, age 76, longtime soggiorn owner, with community mourning and local saloons to close in his memory.
May 14 Salt Lake. Lester Freed Frank Pitre and T R O Fieney arrested yesterday afternoon for violating the Speen ordinance by speeding autos in the business district. Freeney paid $10 bond to appear in Judge B Diets romt at 2 o clock this afternoon. Pierce charged with four miles per hour over limit on South Temple Street. Officer East reported. Finney stopped on Brigham Street for speeding. warned previously and posted $20 bail. All to appear in court as required.
A violent mob struck and fatally injured prominent citizen J Columbus Mies on May 22. Georgia Voges, described as a one-earner, reportedly attacked Rector, a local figure, as he attempted to assist another inmate. The incident occurred near the jail where the suspect was taken after an attempted escape, with authorities investigating the assault and arrest details.
A Washington dispatch reports Burrows and Butais pressing for a meeting of the privy tegés and elections committee to decide on the Smoot Cane matter. Senator Halles, once on the committee, is reportedly out, with Knox and Dolliver urging a sharper reading of the case while others prepare for possible action.
Notice is given by the City Council of Colorado City Utah of plans to create a thirty five street improvement along Adam Avenue to Jackson Avenue. Work includes parking, leveling, and lawn planting on both sides from the property line to the card line. Estimated cost about two thousand eight hundred dollars to be funded by local assessment.
