Fate of International League Hinges on Vote

New York reports say the fate of the International League hung in the balance as magnates debated whether to suspend operations for the war or keep a minimal schedule. A vote was planned for tomorrow morning with a likely four-club bloc to survive, while many owners favored closing gates. Jack Dunn of Baltimore and James Gaultney of Toronto urged fighting for life, warning suspension could trigger a complete collapse and allow rival leagues to raid franchises. Some clubs want to field a team this summer, risking a blow to the circuit as war and draft losses bite into attendance and revenue.

Death by Own Action Theory Generally Accepted in Idaho

Pocatello Idaho March 27 Yesterday while searching near the area where the body of an unidentified man was found Deputy Game Warden A T Lehrbag reported a discharged .38 caliber revolver a box of cartridges and a black felt hat purchased in Los Angeles. The presence of a bullet hole in the right breast and the weapon at the scene led officers to abandon foul play theories in favor of self inflicted death. A hotel hat check found in the dead man s pocket was traced to a Chicago hotel issued to a Mexican named Tony Tere around November 20 1917. The body was badly decomposed and unrecognizable when found.
