Handsome Man Contest Chooses Roy Fernandez Over Violet Mersereau
An old Universal Film Manufacturing contest shortlisted thousands of entrants to name the handsomest man in America. Roy Fernandez won, earning a film contract potential, while Violet Mersereau flirted with him but did not marry or publicly accept. Judges weighed features, form, and character as thousands sent in photos.
