Mount Clemens Michigan June 3 Three women wives of soldiers who joined the courier for service on the Mexican border in 1916 testified today for Henry Ford in its 1,000,000 libel suit against the Chicago Tribune. They were Mabel Richards Mrs Floyd Berton and Mrs Gertrude Raka. Mrs Maker admitting on cross examination that she had tried to get her husband out of the army under the idleness and asserted that justice sometimes requires a sin and added Uncle Sam don't always go to work either. The husbands of each of the women were modern employees and two of them testified they began to receive relief payments from the Ford educational department about a month after mobilization of the guard. On cross examination attorney Kirkland for the plaintiff tried to emphasize a month after. The men left, the women stated they received nothing from the ward except none of them confessed any present delay although it was admitted that those restrictions were slender while their husbands who in colonial life retired and were absent with the elements.
In a Senate session the Susan B Anthony suffrage constitutional amendment failed to reach a vote as debate stalled action on the house resolution. The measure remained unfinished business and expected to be set aside before adjournment, sources indicate. The proceedings involved suffrage advocates and related treaty discussions, with key leaders of the resolution noted.
A series of meetings saw about one hundred attendees despite modest turnout. Participants came from Utah Idaho and Wyoming and the next session will be in Modesto California with the speakers who spoke today returning to address the crowd.

The Standifer shipbuilding corporation will reopen its Slacl shipyard in Vancouver Washington tomorrow despite the strike. About 1200 workers walked out and several hundred striker supporters gathered at the yard today ready to return to work. Corporate officials said the yard would not operate during the rebuild.
