In Ogden river near Glenwood park a ten year old girl Leonora Murdock fell through ice. Nine year old Roscoe Reese plunged in to reach her, grabbed her arm and held on until others arrived. Leonora was revived after removal to her home. Roscoe received praise but modestly declined reward or medals.
Great Falls January 1 Four victims of the Mid Canyon wreck will have their bodies sent east by train. Clifford Fuller is identified and will be shipped to Hanedek Minnesota. Netw W Beal will be sent to Braddock North Dakota. N L Headline and H C Morrissey will be shipped to Fairbault Minnesota and Mendville Pennsylvania respectively.
Chicago December 31 five thousand dollars was telegraphed to Washington by the Milneis Red Cross society today. Private cables announced the safety of Chicagoans listed as Mr and Mrs Jacob Baur Mr and Mrs Chartell H Thompson Mr and Mrs Wm J Hibbard and others amid earlier grave fears.
Mrs Mary Vietki is the proud mother of Chicago’s first baby in 1909 a girl born at 12 01 as a police ambulance took the mother to the county hospital The birth marks the first baby of the new year in the city with local authorities noting the time of birth and location.
