Culebra Feb 8 President Taft inspected the Culebra Cut as completion nears. He toured the canal area with engineers and officials after a long engineers conference. Tomorrow he plans to survey the entire cut from the rim.
Carson Nev Feb 3 The Nevada assembly passed the Anti Japanese resolution as amended urging California to enact exclusion measures. A telegraph from Senator Mixon was read, and the assembly said the resolution would be delivered to the senate. Resolution No 2 supporting warship retention in the Pacific passed without amendment.
Edinburgh February a scene of cross examination as Clara Elisabeth Taylor daughter of Mrs Stirling testifies in a divorce suit brought by her husband. Mrs Stirling endures three days on the stand answering with composure though tearful at times. Taylor denies any liaison with Lord Northland and rejects talk of an illicit affair. Lord Northland pleads defense while corroborating Burling's testimony. The case adjourns for the night.
A federal grand jury charged Governor Charles N. Masker and several associates with conspiring to defraud the government in a town contracting scheme. Indictments list J. Bevern A Z Engien C W Tomer W Hutchings James W. Hit Walter H. Eaton and others. Bonds set at 5000 each for several defendants as they await further court action. The case, connected to the Tolols Contracting company, centers on alleged manipulation of town contracts to raise prices.

New York February 19 Amoe M Ensign artist and New York Tribune editor died in Brooklyn after an operation. He was Cornell class of 16. prominent in campus athletics and journalism.
