New YorkDev 1 The annual meeting of the National League disclosed active negotiations for a settlement with independent baseball. President Tener said club owners met with Federal league representatives but no readjustment could occur without American League approval and Judge Landis. Dreyfuss left for Chicago with a proposed plan. The meeting awarded the Philadelphia pennant and elected directors Ebbetts Gaffney Herrmans Hempstead and Dreyfuss.
In Smokery Alleys last night Gervics toppled the Red Devils two to one in a league match. The close totals 1465 to 2466 marked the tightest city bowling contest yet. Parry had a 224 high game and Tribe posted a 695 series as individual leaders.
By Press the deaf boys team will play the high school at 4:25 on the high school's floor. The crowd is expected large. The lineup includes E. Pinares D. Pinares Chambers Falck L. Palek and others.
Last night at the Methodlet church in Ogden city boys clubs formed a backetball league with six clubs represented. Bylaws were drawn up showing strong interest in organized athletics. With no YMCA or gymnasium, the boys start an amateur association themselves. Members include D. O. F. club, K. S. P. club, Third Ward MIA club, Fourth and Fifth wards MIA clubs, and Seventh and Ninth wards MIA clubs. Anyone may join by contacting Henry Olaon of the D. O. F. club. League to start in January.
The planned game with Weber Academy and R.G. and the Oneida State academy of Preston was called off as the TY. Co. would not play until Friday night but Friday night clashes with a lecture. The HY. C. team beat Preston two weeks ago when two Preston players were sidelined. Coach Watson plans new plays and drills the team for upcoming games.
Representatives from Jess Willard and Fred Fulton meet in Chicago to finalize articles for a heavyweight championship fight set for New Orleans on March 4. Key managers push for delays and formal alignment amid broad scheduling notes.
The scrubs edged the Weber Academy Juniors on their home floor 28 to 24. Despite two first team players in the Juniors lineup, the scrubs played faster and outshot them. Referees called 26 fouls on both sides as scrubs rallied in the final minutes with better shooting to clinch the win.
