Chicago reports the United States and China sign a commercial treaty that could add millions of dollars to U.S. trade. John Goodnow arrives from Shanghai en route to Washington to ratify the agreement drafted with Minister Conger and J F Seaman.
New York December 8 United States Shipbuilding receivership hearing resumes with Lewis Nixon on the stand. Samuel Untermyer questions the cause of the collapse tied to the Sheldon reorganization plan and dividends alleged by Bethlehem. Nixon cites the bondholders action as insolvency proof and notes no trust after May 26 1903.

Davenport Iowa December 8 Henry Lis cher publisher of Der Demokrat died aged 67. Lis cher was a prominent German language newspaper man in the northwest.
Secretary Shaw transmitted to the House a request for 15909 dollars more for the Department of Justice to enforce the anti trust laws. The appeal arrives from Washington on December 8.
