An unknown young man from Indiana was shot and killed by one of four tramps near Augusta, twenty miles west of Wichita, after the group robbed the sleepers. The victim and two companions had Dozed off a night earlier one mile from Augusta before the confrontation.

Chicago Aug 21 Mrs Mabel Lathey 24 saturated her clothing with kerosene and set it aflame in an apparent suicide bid. She collapsed in the hallway and was saved by a boarder and a policeman circulars, but sustains severe burns and is feared to die.
Hazel Avery, who confessed kidnapping two year old Olive Furlong, received a three year prison term. The child was taken June 23 and found June 30. The judge said she seemed not fully mentally responsible but needed to set an example.
