He joined the LDS church with his family, served in Indian wars, and moved through Utah settlements before settling in Ephraim where he farmed. He married Elizabeth Whillock in 1844 and had eleven children and many grandchildren. He lived in Ephraim most of his later life and was regarded as a loyal, upright man.
