Ball lake Aug. 3 The school census shows a gain of about 700 children of school age since last year. Most districts report increases though some homes were not counted as families were away. The southeast section again records the largest rise, with over 500 additional children.

Cache County commissioners meet in Logan on a Monday session. Chairman Israelson and Assessor F T Dallam are authorized to travel to Batt Lake to appeal before the board of equalization regarding a proposed tax increase on cattle valuations. A petition from the Commercial Roaster requests Logan canyon road improvements be designated a county road and repaired. the matter is pending investigation by the commissioners.
Three men invaded the camp of Japanese workers at Morrap Ave 5-A Tuesday night. They ordered the victims to rise, robbed them of $1650, and fled toward Salt Lake. A North Town resident nearby saw the bandits and alerted the foreman, who kept his hands up until the chief was informed.
In Logan today excitement surrounds the disappearance of Barbara Wilton, 47, who left her Fifth Ward home last night after being released from the state mental hospital where she had been committed following mental illness. Sheriff Crookston and deputies searched the area, fearing she may have drowned herself in the Logan River. Wilton is described as the widow of Thomas Wiles, a feeble 91-year-old Mormon pioneer.
Salt Lake Aug Gov Spry sent a letter to the A I FP expest re penc that Utah at the fair will change to Aug 6 instead of 5. The Talemnadts chair will not reach Seattle until that date and will perform at the Auditorium on the fair grounds that evening. The change in Clay day may be made on high officials' suggestion. Both the choir and high school cadets will depart for Oregon on Aug 6 serving as part of the program through Hobe La Grande Portland and Tacoma.

In Hammond and nearby areas traders speak of a flower said to grow along the Calumet and Nile rivers.
