Abel Worster, aged 80, longtime Kossuth County settler, died after a long illness. Survived by five sons and two daughters, seven grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Holmes, with burial in Triington Cemetery, marking a large gathering of mourners and neighbors.

Longtime Iowa farmer dies after lifelong toil and care
Aued veteran Abel Vorster, born 1820 in New Hampshire, lived out his years in Riverdale and Kossuth Iowa farms. He toiled daily with slow steps, assisted by his children, and died August 28, 1908 after a long life of hard work and family devotion. He married Harriet Mil in 1845 and raised ten children before passing peacefully.

Tragic Rifle Accident Claims Nugent Boy Life
Four year old Edward Nugent died after a No. 22 cartridge discharged while an eleven year old handled the rifle at the W D Nugent home. Neighbors and relatives gathered for the Catholic funeral conducted by Father Halpin, with kin from Mason City and Prairie du Chien among mourners.

Kossuth Butter Makers Shine at State Dairy Meet
At Waterloo last week the Town State Dairy Convention awarded G. J. Gudknecht of Lotts Creek the gold medal for highest score in the whole milk class. August Nurell of Irvington won third in the educational scoring contest and joined prizewinners on the speakers' platform, receiving a five dollar gold piece. Kossuth county, led by A. M. Whitney of Whittemore last year, posted strong entries with an average score of 9.33. Local representatives included W. Spurbeck, Henry Dreyer, G. J. Gudknecht, J. T. Hanna, T. J. Tolian, and others.

District Court Doings Involving Hayden V Mangan Case
District court spent the past week on the breach of contract case between B F Hayden and J W Mangan. The jury found for the defendant with no damages. costs taxed to the plaintiff. In the W F Ewing forgery case the defendant pled guilty and was sentenced to Anamosa for an indeterminate term. Other cases were continued to the next term as court adjourned.
