Departure of a Veteran Editor in Northern Iowa
The veteran editor Mr. Starr will leave the Upper Des Moines region after thirty years of faithful service. His departure, driven in part by tuberculosis in his family, marks the end of an era of high conviction and moral uplift in community news. Northern Iowa remembers Starr as a principled journalist who stood for right at local, state, and national levels, and used his paper as a beacon for community ideals. The shift recalls earlier publishers like Senator Punk at Spirit Lake and Adams at Humboldt, with Starr's legacy among the last landmarks of early northern Iowa journalism.
