Drainage project drains Annis slough to reclaim land
Farmers gathered as water released into a newly finished tile drain by J. B. Swett of Boone and partners. The 16 inch tile ends 12 feet below the slough with a sheet iron lining that buckled under pressure. Water will be funneled through a boxed channel and deepened as level falls, eventually extending the tile through multiple farms toward the Black Cat outlet. It may take about thirty days to fully drain.

Death brings relief after long illness in Sweden native
Charles A Hagg aged 53 died at his home near town Saturday night after a three year battle with tuberculosis of the stomach. One Chicago operation offered no relief. Born October 24 1854 in Sweden he leaves a wife six children two brothers Pete and Louie. Funeral Monday at 2 pm from Swedish Lutheran church Rev C G Lundell officiating. Large crowd attended as friends offered sympathy. family left fairly well off with insurance and an 80 acre farm mostly paid for.

Funeral services for Mrs Christina Johnson were held Tuesday after a home service, with burial in Bancroft. Born in Sweden in 1828 she died at 79 years, 1 month, 5 days. She came to the United States in 1862 and left behind daughters Mrs Pehrm Algona, Mrs Safholm and Mrs Swanson Minneapolis, and son August Johnson Bancroft plus son Prof Bexel Utah State University Logan. two brothers survive.

Paul Crowley born March 25 1895 in St Dodge Webster county died at 12 years 9 months 23 days after a long illness. He lost a leg four years earlier to tuberculous infection and pursued schooling with quiet courage. Diphtheria ended his brief life on December 12 with family by his bedside, sister Julia ever present as parents and siblings mourn the child loved by neighbors.
