The straight trench runs toward the square with consistent depth, though sticky clay requires occasional shoveling. Observers question proximity to the street center and potential future repair issues when payment work begins.
An old 1884 issue of The Republican newspaper is brought to town by Johnny Hall. Fr mer F Quigley advertises gun repairing on the front page, with the paper shown in the J F Underwood Merc Co Store window. The Republican began over 56 years ago, but early files are missing or lost.

Spinneld announces Mrs E N Monroe of Quincy has been named by Governor Small to the state department of public health board of health advisors. The slate includes Dr William A Evans and others from Chicago Bloomington and St Louis. Monroe, wife of the Monroe Drug Company president, is a prominent Quincy figure and former Adams County Republican Women's Club president. The clipping notes her party work and public service as reasons for the appointment.
Local meteorologist George W Davis reports September rainfall from the 1st to the 26th totaling 6.165 inches. Rain fell on 14 of the 26 days with higher totals in other regions, while local figures show a modest month.

Curthoisman bought the tailor shop formerly run by Howard corner of Bil Tysor and is now in possession. He expects to continue the business on Mr Tysor had it and will do cleaning pressing dyeing and other tasks in this line of work.

Unionville High School will play Linneus High School this Friday at 3:30 PM. The teams are evenly matched and both aim for an exciting game following last year’s Brookfield championship. Linneus was the only team to score against Brookfield last season.

Ernnest Carlton Smith and Sara Catharine Norman of Mt Hope neighborhood near Powerrville married September 21 1921 at 4 pm in the home of Rev Hugh Harmon near Newtown. Both are well known in the west end of the county and will reside on the groom s farm north of Mt Hope church.
