Obituary of Doster S. Noland in Putnam County
Doster S. Noland 69 died suddenly after a stroke at 5:30 last day. Born May 1 1860 in Monroe County Iowa he moved to Putnam County in 1872 with his parents. He married Sarah F Cave Sept 18 1878 and six children were born. wife and two children preceded him in death. Surviving are J D O T D W and B E Noland of Putnam County. He joined the Christian church young and was a consistent active member and influence. Funeral at the Christian church Sunday 3 pm conducted by Elder J Roy Wright. interment Unionville cemetery. Jasper Bell Shot and Killed in Sidney Dispute
Jefferson County reports Jasper Bell a Sidney schoolteacher slain Friday by Frank Harlan in front of a store. The coroner’s jury ruled Bell died from a gunshot wound. Harlan surrendered after walking from the scene and was charged with second degree murder. Funeral held at Ledford cemetery drew 1500 to 2000 mourners.

A Tarkio death notice reports Tom Middleton died at 6:20 this morning at his sister’s home. He, about 37, suffered lingering illness after influenza contracted in Boston last winter. The funeral is set for Friday at 2:30 PM at the M E church with Rev. Burtiss officiating. interment to follow in Unionville.
