Foley Meditations and County Life in Putnam County
A lively, discursive county letter recounts social visits in Livonia and surrounding towns, praising local newspapers, merchants, and residents. The piece notes subscriptions, banking ventures, and community plans, with vivid portraits of households, farms, and a slice of rural commerce. It includes remarks on Foley’s writings and local hospitality, ending with a real estate offer and a poem excerpt.
