Names listed include Mrs Sarah Halley George Salaer S L Simmons and others.
Mrs. Lee Womack was surprised Sunday for her 64th birthday. Seventeen children and grandchildren attended, bringing a bountiful dinner. Several relatives were absent, and many gifts were exchanged as guests wished her many happy returns.
The Putnam County School-Board Convention met February 28 in Unionville with broad participation though not all districts were represented. Supervisor A F Essen and speakers including Prof Paul Bebermayer, J G Oldaker, and Fern Oldaker discussed school equipment, approved state standards, and the need for modern buildings and superior teachers to improve education. emphasis was placed on purchasing approved equipment and consulting the State Department for approval.
Obituary notes the death of S. Christopher Columbus Ball at his farm near Unionville Missouri aged 66 years 3 days after a series of strokes. Survived by wife Bulah Hoover and three children Lawrence S Sally Golda J and George T, with brother George Scott Hall and sister Mrs Jimcy Stout. Funeral held at the Methodist Episcopal church conducted by Rev. Morris Blood.
Mr. C. L. Anderson closed a deal to acquire the original Anderson Produce Co. station in Unionville after a family founded network of plants across North Missouri and Iowa was reduced. The Unionville plant remains a valuable facility with good building and fixtures.

Washington pasty served at the Sta der home during a morning social. Decorations reflected the occasion as Parker and Mrs Carrie entertain. Louiss Elson hosts a one o'clock luncheon that afternoon at the Elson residence.
In gratitude, Golda J Hall and George T Hall thank their neighbors for support during the illness and death of their husband and father, Lawrence Yow Hall, and for the great sympathy shown.
W D Bills of Putnam County died February 28 1924 at 6 30 p m after moving to the county in 1878 He married twice first to a Mrs Moore then to Pollyann Miller and had four children with a total of 21 great grandchildren Read by Elder BE McKinley at the Christian church funeral Monday afternoon with many family members present from Missouri and Iowa locales.
The first inter county debate will be held Friday evening at Unionville High School. A Lucerne school team will meet Unionville, with additional debates featuring Powersville and Worthington. The program includes an eight event sequence with audience turnout and ticket sales ongoing.
The infant of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Moss died last Saturday when, en route to visit relatives, the baby wrapped for cold was found dead after the parents arrived. Infant Lee Moss born in November. Authorities report the death as accidental smothering during transport.

Harley Bradshaw narrowly escaped serious injury after slipping beside a coal laden wagon, the wheel passing over his chest. He suffered a fractured rib, was treated in Maulsby mines area, and is recovering after medical care in town.
The Putnam County Tel Co announces assembling a better operating force and selecting Miss Sarah Clark for the position to improve service. It urges prompt handling by callers and called parties, noting both operator and party share responsibility for good service. A series of notices will follow in the paper.
Mrs. A R Gibson is recovering after a fall at her home north of town when she tripped over a sack and shattered a glass door. She sustained a heavy cut to her nose requiring seven stitches and is healing nicely with no further trouble expected.
Mrs C H Williams aged 63 died Sunday in Drakesville Iowa after long illness. She united with Drakeville church in 1928 and lived a Christian life. She and husband C E Williams moved from Unionville Missouri in 1886 to Kansas then to Iowa in 1888. Nine children survive including Clarence An, Ottumwa. Lee, Ellie M. Mamie. Lawrence. James. Tone. Robe. A card of thanks from the Williams family expresses gratitude for support and flowers.
Bids for a gravel road construction project near Fort Valley are reported as low and high figures with an official letter from Division Engineer A R ee noting the bids will be considered for the contract. The project is expected to cost around four thousand dollars per mile and final approval will come later.
Charles Chambers connected with the Internal Revenue Service in ty will be in Unionville at the Staplester on Friday and Saturday this week. Collector Noah Crooks, who is a factor here, says Mr. Kers will gladly help anyone needing his service on income tax law or other matters connected with the Collector's office.
Raley Mondon, of center Veten sale, sustained a broken right ankle Tuesday evening after slipping through a loft hole while placing hay for the team. He fell and the injury is expected to hinder him for some time.
